The relevance for traditional medicines like Unani has increased in the modern era, says A K Shasheendran, Kerala Transport Minister. He was speaking by inaugurating the health seminar conducted in association with mega medical camp organised under MUMC & H . The minister also noted that the 1000s of patients assembled in the camp has proved the acceptance of Unani system of medicine among the public. He also admired this venture of camps and seminars by Markaz especially in this period of increased lifestyle and communicable diseases.
The camp was organised by the collaboration of the students and staffs of MUMC &H with SYS Thamarassery zone in which more than 30 OPDs (out patient department) were arranged for around 5000 patients. Consultation followed by lab tests, regimental therapies and dispensary were offered completely free of costs to the patients. The medical expo set up by the students union of MUMC & H was also a highlight of the camp.
Dr. Muhammed Abdul Hakeem Azhari, director of MKC prefected the inauguration ceremony. Dr. Abdussalam , CEO of MKC delivered the welcome speech and Dr. Ameer Hassan, ED of MKC conveyed the vote of thanks. The principal of MUMC & H Dr. Imdadullah Sidhiqui, Dr. OKM Abdurahiman, Dr. U.K. Muhammed shareef, Dr. Mujeeb, Dr. Shahul Hameed, Adv. Samad and representatives of the students union of MUMC & H also spoke in the event.
